Prayer Reflection

“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” Psalm 94:19 (NIV)

“Whenever my busy thoughts were out of control, the soothing comfort of your presence calmed me down and overwhelmed me with delight.” Psalm 94:19 (TPT)

“Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Psalm 100:3-5 (NIV)

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.” Isaiah 60:1-2 (NIV)

Prayer

Father God

We come before you now with uncertainty in what is happening in our world today and what our foreseeable future will look like, and we lay everything down before your throne of grace, as an act of worship.  We bow before you as our merciful God who knows the end from the beginning and is with us through it all.  We place our hope in you, our Light, and worship you.  Thank you that you have not left us alone.   Your glory is our covering and protection even in the midst of the darkness that seems to be covering our earth at this time.  What an amazing hope we have, knowing you “rise upon us and your glory appears over us”.  What an awesome God you are!  You know what we’re thinking, where we’re at and you meet us at our very point of need, providing for us beyond our imagination.

Lord we ask you to breathe in us through your Holy Spirit and purify our hearts.  We want to trust in only you and we ask that you give us the desire and the strength to look up when we find ourselves fixated on what is happening around us.  We not only lift our eyes, but our hearts and hands too, in surrender, in love, in thanksgiving and in adoration.

Thank you for your Holy Spirit speaking the truth of who we are into our hearts (Romans 8:16).  We are God’s children, his people and the sheep of his pasture.  May we truly know you as Abba Father today – a loving Father like no other, who cares about every detail of our lives.  We declare you are good and your love endures forever.  You are faithful and your promises never fail.   Thank you for the Bible – your words over us – words you breathe into us to bring life, words to break down walls and silence our fears, words to surround us by your Spirit and words to worship and praise you in every situation.

Lord give us eyes this week to see beyond the natural and see your heavenly glory over us that we might be transformed into your image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Cor 3:18)

In Jesus’ name Amen
