The BTE (Bishop's Training Event) is an annual event for all Tasmanian Anglicans.
Come along to be equipped in using your gifts as a disciple of Jesus and be encouraged by meeting with many other Tasmanian Anglicans.
There will be opportunity to hear keynote talks, choose from a variety of workshop options, and browse different resource tables.
This year the event will include some updates from Bishop Richard on the refreshed Diocesan Vision and input from guest speaker Rev Dr Mark Earngey.
The information below will be updated over the next few weeks with registrations opening mid-late July.

Children and Young People at the Bishop's Training Event
HOBART
A creche for toddlers through to Kindergarten age will be running from 9:30am-12.30pm. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Primary (Prep-Grade 6): A great day of activities, music, learning, discussion, fun and friendship is planned for children in grades Prep-6. The Primary Program runs from 9:30am-3pm on-site (starting in the main session with the grown ups). All food is provided. We look forward to seeing you there!

Keynote Talk - The Rev Dr Mark Earngey
In his main talk, Mark will introduce what Anglicanism is (and isn't) by telling the story of its origins and development. We'll think together about the biblical basis for some of Anglicanism's major features, and see how these things connect with our modern day mission to see Australians come under the glorious sound of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Mark teaches Church History, Doctrine, and Liturgy at Moore Theological College in Sydney. He enjoys researching, writing, and teaching about the English Reformation and its ongoing significance for the church today. Mark and his wife Tanya have four children: Grace, Simeon, Sophia, and Zoe. Together they worship at St Paul's Anglican Church, Canterbury, and can often be found enjoying some of their favourite places in the world: Burwood Chinatown or Balmoral Beach.
Workshops
The workshops run for an hour and are more interactive than the main sessions.
When registering for the Bishop's Training Event you will get to choose which workshop you would like to attend. You can select one workshop. Please note that there are attendance limits on some workshops, and spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you do not select a workshop, you will be allocated to the one running in the largest space.

The Bishop's Training Event provides both theological and practical teaching, grounding us in God’s word and also providing us the opportunity to learn some new skills with practical workshops..
At the heart of our Vision to be a church for Tasmania, making disciples of Jesus, is developing a network of resilient mature parishes across our Diocese where people become and grow as disciples of Jesus. We also want to work together with our other Anglican ministries, schools and agencies to reach out to our communities. It is hoped that people leave the training event encouraged, with greater knowledge of God, and some practical skills and ideas to put this vision into practise and grow in their own lives as disciples of Jesus.
