On the death of Her Majesty Queen ELIZABETH II

9 September 2022

It is with deep sadness that we woke this morning to the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. For most of us she has been a steady presence for all of our lives.

Her grace-filled, wise, and stable service has been an inspiration in a world tossed to and fro by the winds of change.

But most of all, her deep faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his Word, have been the deepest of encouragements.

We take comfort, as Her Majesty did, in the enduring truth, that Jesus said: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)

We mourn, but not as those who have no hope. We offer our condolences and prayers for the Royal Family.

Flowers may be left in tribute at the main door of St David’s Cathedral.

Thanks be to God for Queen Elizabeth II. God save the King.

The Rt Revd Dr Richard Condie
Bishop of Tasmania
