Bishop’s Training Event 2018 – Making Disciples Every Day

Saturday 22 September saw over 400 Anglicans from across the state gathering together for the 3rd annual Bishop’s Training Event, with a sense of excitement and expectation.

It was our biggest event yet, filling the Hutchins School auditorium, with around 350 adults, and 70+ children in the kids’ event and creche.

In the morning session we were encouraged by Bishop Richard to ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into the harvest field.

Revd Andy Goodacre shared how Jesus chose unlikely people, in unlikely places, and invested in the few for the sake of the many.

Testimonies were heard of God growing churches from very small numbers in Circular Head and Launceston, of Anglicans moving house to join a new church plant in Brighton, or going into the prison to share the good news, for which we gave thanks to God.

We joyfully sang together with 400+ voices praising God.

In the afternoon we met in smaller groups, attending 2 of 22 possible workshops on a wide range of ministry topics.  Steve Abbott, author of Everyday Evangelism, led the two main auditorium workshops on sharing our faith with others.

People left, thankful for what God is doing among us, and with new skills and ideas to make disciples across Tasmania, and keen to invite others to join us next year.
