Senior Minister (Rector), Parish of Sandy Bay and Taroona

SEEKING: A Minister who can help us reach our community

On the western shore of Hobart, down by the river, are the beautiful suburbs of Taroona and Lower Sandy Bay, and the faithful group of Anglicans who live here are seeking a community minded shepherd to come and lead them as they grow in knowing Jesus and seek to make him known.

Nestled between the Derwent River and a conservation area, this village is found on the scenic road between Hobart city and Kingston. The beachside suburb was the childhood home of Tasmanian-born Queen Mary of Denmark. It is just a short 15 minute drive from Hobart’s city centre while retaining the leafy and quiet outlook distinctive of Hobart’s southern suburbs.

God is already at work! At St Luke’s, there is an active and involved group of older saints who have persevered for many years and seen the beginning of some good connections with their community. They need someone who can help them take the next steps in connecting with the primary and high school, and forging stronger relationships with their community to win them for Christ.

The new Minister will be comfortable interacting with both old and young, have a passion for starting new ministries, a kind pastoral heart, and a collaborative working style. He or she will be willing to lead the congregation in going to the community around them with the good news. We are praying that God will continue to bring new life into this community.  The new Minister will have a very supportive Diocesan and clergy team around them and plenty of gospel hearted colleagues nearby as they seek to make disciples in Sandy Bay and Taroona.
