Chaplain, Risdon Prison Complex

Anglican Health and Welfare are seeking a compassionate and professional person to provide Chaplaincy services at the Hobart Risdon Prison.

This 0.4FTE (2 days per week) Chaplain position will be working as a member of the Prison Chaplaincy service providing pastoral care for inmates and staff of the Prison.

The Prison Chaplain will be required to respond to the pastoral needs of inmates and staff, as well as facilitating courses that assist inmates in their faith journeys and contribute positively to their rehabilitation and reintegration back into society.  Chaplains are also required to lead weekly chapel services across the different facilities.

Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in providing Pastoral Care / Chaplaincy
  • Completion of or willingness to complete at least 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Working with Vulnerable People Registration, Police check and Identity Check
  • Intermediate ability to use computers

Anglican Health & Welfare is a child safe organisation. The successful applicant will be required to undertake Childsafe or Safeguarding Children screening and training.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience or understanding of working within the justice / prison system
  • Theological Qualifications
  • Broad awareness or working knowledge of their own and other faith traditions
