Rector (Senior Minister), Anglican Parish of the West Coast
WANTED – A courageous gospel minister for wild Western Tasmania
Along the northern edge of the Southwest Tasmania World Heritage Area lies the Anglican Parish of the West Coast, and they are looking for a new shepherd and teacher to lead them.
Not for the faint-hearted, the successful applicant must be able to live remotely (2 hours to the nearest Woolworths), in a small population (1800 in the largest town), in one of the most disadvantaged communities in the state, in a harsh climate that is cold in winter (average 4o -12o for 3 months), with relentless wind and rain (2400mm annually) and be willing to travel long distances (45 minutes between church centres).
The rewards are eternal. The people who live there need Jesus. They need a pastor who will love them and teach them. They need a leader to pray with them, share the gospel with them and encourage them to live for the King of Kings. They will love you back and give you more than you give to them. And of course, God is already there and at work.
Together with Bush Church Aid, we are optimistic that the gospel can take root and blossom in the lives of the people on the West Coast, and the minister will have our full support as they seek to make disciples in those remote communities.
Full stipend and housing. BCA Support. Family travel allowance. Supportive Diocese. Training and development pathways.
If you think you have what it takes, download the parish profile here, call or email the Bishop of Tasmania to discuss.
