It's insurance renewal time again.

The deadline for providing property information to the Registry is 31 July 2023. This is a hard deadline so that we can supply information to AIRS.

Building insurance

You need to tell us the type of cover and value insured for each building:

• Category A - reinstatement cover - cover for full reinstatement value of the building. You will need to provide a reliable estimate of the reinstatement value. Do not under declare, as this might result in reduction in payment of a claim.
• Category B - first loss - cover up to an agreed dollar limit. Losses above the limit are not covered, but would need to be covered by the Parish. This would be suitable for a secondary building in a parish. You will need to provide the dollar value that you wish to have covered. It should be enough to cover the likely costs of rectifying the more likely sorts of losses / damage to the building.
• Category C - debris removal only.

Most ordinary church activities are included within our cover. There are some activities that either require pre-approval and a risk management plan, or are excluded. You can see the lists at this document.

Travel

Travel for work purposes is covered in our insurances. Please estimate and tell us the number of interstate and/or overseas trips that you anticipate your parish staff taking between 1 November 2023 and 31 October 2024.

The Diocese of Tasmania default Superannuation fund is now Anglican Super.

Read on below if you'd like to switch to Anglican Super.

How to join:

1. Navigate to the Anglican Super website and click the "Join now" button.
2. On the next page, "Join today" takes you to the page with some information. The "Choice form" link takes you to the online form where you enter your details. Complete those instructions.
3. When you're asked for the employer details, enter Juliet's details - see above.
4. You'll get a welcome email (it may take a day or two) - this email will give you some information about how to access the online member portal.

Some tips:

1. When you'd opened your new account, keep the old one open until you've completed everything below.
2. Make sure that your superannuation is going into your new account. You'll see this on your pay slip.
3. Transfer your insurance from the old fund to the Anglican super fund - there is a form to do this in the member portal.
4. Roll over your old superannuation into the new fund.
