Living as a Christian
Jesus said: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
The Christian life is about living as God intended. It starts with having a restored relationship with God, because of what Jesus has done. And then continually develops, growing from that new relationship with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Christians live, knowing that God loves them, because Jesus died for them.
Christians live, no longer fearing death, because Jesus rose from the tomb and defeated death for those who follow him.
Christians live, striving to love God and others, with the power of God’s Holy Spirit working in them.
This life of loving God and others is not in order to be accepted by God, but because God has already shown His goodness and accepted us through Jesus.
“The Holy Spirit helps Christians to grow lives of love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Galatians 5:2-23
The local church is the place in which Christians are encouraged to live for Jesus, and also encourage one another. It is the place where Christians meet together to worship God as a community, to pray and to learn from the Bible. It is a place where care and comfort can be given and received.
