Assistant Chaplain, Launceston General Hospital

Anglican Health and Welfare are seeking a compassionate, caring and professional person to provide Chaplaincy services at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH).

This 0.6FTE (3 days / 24 hours per week) Chaplain position will be working as a member of the LGH Chaplaincy service providing pastoral care for patients, visitors and staff of the LGH and support to the Coordinator – LGH Chaplaincy Services.

The LGH Chaplain will be a member of the Allied Health team responding to referrals and provide spiritual care across the hospital. The LGH Chaplain will also be on a roster for urgent after-hours on-call requests and Sunday afternoon chapel services.

Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in providing Pastoral Care / Chaplaincy
  • Completion of or be willing to complete at least 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Working with Vulnerable People Registration, Police check and Identity Check
  • Intermediate ability to use computers

Anglican Health & Welfare is a child safe organisation. The successful applicant will be required to undertake Childsafe or Safeguarding Children screening and training.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience or understanding of working within the health-care system
  • Theological Qualifications
  • Broad awareness or working knowledge of their own and other faith traditions
