Creating Community Mentor, Montrose, Glenorchy

Creating Community Mentor
Anglican Parish of Northside, Tasmania

Location: Montrose, Glenorchy
(northern suburbs of Hobart)

Job Type: Full-time

Closing Date: 17 December 2021

About Us

As a community shaped by the Gospel, Northside Anglican aims to be a church for our community, one that is outwardly focussed, seeking to love our neighbours and be good news. Together, we aim to know Jesus more as we continue to grow in our worship, understanding, and obedience to Jesus, and to make Jesus known in all we do.

The Creating Community Mentor program (CCM) is a new initiative for the parish of Northside, one that seeks to make Jesus known by loving and serving our neighbouring schools by providing personal and practical mentoring and support for the young people in our community. We do this in the prayerful hope that in God’s time, those that we connect with will one day meet Jesus and know him as we do, and for their lives to be transformed by the power of the Gospel.

Please read the Position Description for further details, including remuneration.

About You

We’d love it if the right person had ministry experience with young people, even more so if this included outreach, evangelism, and discipleship, even more so if this included leadership experience. While we’d welcome an applicant with all these experiences, what we desire most is a person with a heart to love and serve young people and their families and see them come to faith in Jesus.

If that’s you, if you have a heart and a sense of calling to love and serve some of the last, least, and lost in our community, we’d love to speak with you.

More information

This is a trainee position. All skills and necessary training will be provided in conjunction with the ministry and theological training that forms part of the MTS curriculum. The Lead Minister will also partner with the trainee in all stages of the program and their personal and ministry development.

What is required of the person is a life that is lived in joyful submission to the Lordship of Jesus, and in obedience to continuing His mission through the local church. Personal reading and study of God’s word, prayer, and commitment to the local church are essential to the Christian life and the person who fills this position.

Further to these personal character traits is the desire and capacity to develop something new, work well within a small team, and independently. An adventurous and pioneering spirit will serve the right person well in this position.
