St Clements is a large evangelical Anglican Church in southern Tasmania that has a deep desire to fulfil the Great Commission.
St Clements is looking for a full/part time Discipleship Pastor who will provide sustained focus, oversight and resources to help our congregation and ministries follow Jesus in every way and live out our identity as sons and daughters of God.
This position would involve less up front service leading and preaching, and more connecting, supporting and mentoring of teams, small groups and individuals.
He or she would be responsible for establishing and overseeing evangelistic courses for seekers, and helping Christians to discover, develop and utilise their gifts in the church and beyond.
The Discipleship Pastor will be responsible to the Senior Pastor.
He or she will have a dynamic relationship with God, seeking the Lord in prayer and the word, listening to the Spirit’s guidance in life and ministry.
The Discipleship Pastor will be highly relational, gifted in creating, supporting and trouble-shooting issues in teams and have strong gifts of personal encouragement, wisdom and spiritual discernment.
The Discipleship Pastor will ideally have some theological training and experience in a range of ministry contexts.
The key parts of the role are as follows:
- To keep discipleship central in our church community
“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32)
- To appoint, train and encourage ministry coaches who can in turn support and grow each of our ministry team leaders
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” (2 Timothy 2:2)
- To facilitate ministry pathways to help each person grow in their knowledge, love and service of Christ and to help each member find connection and belonging in our church family “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” (Colossians 3:16)
We are excited about what God is doing amongst us at St Clements, and look forward to partnering with the successful applicant to see lives transformed for Jesus Christ.
The closing date for applications is 30th November.
